My Fair Lady (1964)

So overall I liked this movie, but the ending just irks me. spoiler ahead. So it ends with Higgins asking/demanding Eliza go fetch his slippers, and we are sort of left thinking that she does. What kind of ending is that? She was so strong just a scene before; ready to cast him off, or at very least to stand up for herself and demand a shade better treatment. What happens? Really, it just leaves a bitter taste in your mouth after such a pleasant (though long) movie experience.
