On the Waterfront (1954)

I’m not a Marlon Brando fan, but I have to admit he did a great job here. The only part of the movie I didn’t like was the final scenes at the dock. How does Terry getting the crap beat out of him and then going to work break the hold of Johnny Friendly on the longshoremen?
