I had all these cool projects in mind for spring break. Of course, I didn’t finish any of them. I did however, manage to come up with a new design to liven things up.

Didn’t it? This site is now on a “new” server and my weblog has been ported back to MovableType. Lots of pages got scattered in the move as I tried to clean up several years worth of half-finished web projects, but things should be back to normal before you know it. Consistently irregular posting will now resume.

Tweaks all around, new colors from ColorMatch Remix, added links to monthly archives, and ~~I broke the site in IE all over again~~ IE works again.

It has come to my attention that this site looks like ass in IE6. This will be fixed… Eventually :)

In the meantime the sidebar has made a return so that people might notice the new entry called “ramble.” This is the weblog of my friend Dave Van Wie who is currently travelling through Peru on his way to a NOLS course in the patagonia.

So this site is starting to irritate me again. I think the root of the problem is that I’m really interested in blogging and blog tech, but not really that interested in actually blogging. That and and my near constant obsession with redesigning the site at large. I’m going to try one more time to get all the different little bits I have laying around my public_html directory into some kind of order and then see how I feel about this part of the whole mess. Most certainly it will go on, but I might have to make some changes to encourage myself to post something worth reading :)

I present weblog style #8 for your approval. Let me know if you like it or if I should be banned from ever touching CSS again.

I haven’t finished the template for the individual pages, so those will be coming later. Also, changes will be made as I tweak the layout.

And yes, that is a sidebar over there on the left. I promise not to abuse it… Much.

Update: I tweaked the color a bit but forgot to change the star image to match… Anyways, I think I’ll keep this for now and work on updating the individual pages.

In the spririt of having everything in the right place, links have been allocated their own page thanks to the exclude plugin. Should I ever figure out why the config plugin for Blosxom doesn’t work, the link page will get a tiny little redesign.

What to do with those links…

I used to have a link blog. When I stopped updating my old blog I stopped updating the link blog. Instead I bookmarked those links. Now I have about 10,000 bookmarks. Damn.

I want to bring back the link blog. But when I created this layout, I promised myself I would never add any more columns, boxes, etc. than were absolutely necessary. That’s what made working with my old site so annoying. So where do I put the links? At the top of the page, before my regular entries? Or on a separate page? Or do I cave and add a sidebar?
